Beach Access
NSEA maintains 6 accesses to Lake Michigan. For the purpose of this site, they are named #1-6 from the south.
The beach accesses are for North Shore Estates Association owners and their guests.
There is no parking or driving on the beach accesses.
Beach Access Rules
Beach access is for North Shore Estates lot owners — plus their families and guests.
Purpose of the access ways:
Getting to the Lake Michigan shoreline
Swimming, sunbathing, and walking along the immediate shore
Beach chairs are fine, but no storing boats, kayaks, jet skis, or other large items
Hours of use:
Allowed from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Using the access outside these hours requires permission from adjacent owners
Respect goes both ways:
Users must respect the property rights of adjacent lakefront owners
Lakefront owners must also respect the rights of non‑lakefront owners to use the access ways
Guests:
Owners are accountable for the actions of all guests
No large gatherings on the narrow access ways without permission from the neighboring property owners
Keep it clean:
Everyone must remove their own trash and debris
Beach fires:
Not allowed unless neighboring owners approve
Must follow township rules: recreational fires only, max 4 feet in diameter
Anyone having a permitted fire must fully extinguish it before leaving
Walking along the shoreline:
Michigan Supreme Court allows the public to walk up to the high‑water mark
Both lakefront and non‑lakefront owners should respect each other’s rights when walking the beach
Neighborhood Reminders:
Please clean up after your pets while walking on the beach or along N. Shore Estates Rd.
North Shore Estates Rd is designated as “Low Density Residential (R‑1)” in Spring Lake Township, and short‑term rentals are not permitted in this zoning district, and violations will be reported
